What to look out for?
- Does the main female lead have their own goals and aspirations? (something that doesn't involve the main male lead).
- When the main female lead speaks, is it about something other than a man?
- Are they represented as the "typical" woman without those aspects having anything to do with their personality?
The Bechdel test, also known as the Bechdel–Wallace test, is a measure of the representation of women in fiction. It asks whether a work features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. The requirement that the two women must be named is sometimes added.
